Teresa was born on August 11, 1956, in Frankfurt Germany, as the fourth of five daughters gifted to Evangle and Helen Watley. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized at St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Virginia. In 1978 she graduated from Hermitage High School and went on to Norfolk State College to graduate with a BS degree in Computer Science. She advanced in her career through various companies becoming a Senior Program Analyst.
Teresa was strong, talented and had artistically gifted hands. When she was in her 20’s she began painting figurine sculptures that looked amazing. In her 30’s she took photography classes at the local Community College and became an avid photographer. In her 40’s and into her 50’s she began taking sign language classes. In 2012 she graduated with a degree in sign language. In her 60’s she took up quilting. Given her attention to detail and perfectionism, she created the most beautiful and intricately designed quilts and blankets. She had a level of excellence in all that she did.
Teresa went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Wately, her father Evangle Watley Jr. and sister Katheryn W. Boone. She will be missed by her 2 daughters, Alisha Hairston (Eric Islas); Krystal Abrille(Christopher); 3 sisters, Francine Hill (Mark), Patricia Hall (Jerry), Shirley Watley; 4 grandchildren, 4 nephews, 6 nieces and many family members and friends.
