Shirley Abrams Christian, 66, of Richmond, gently passed to glory on January 11, 2025 at Henrico Doctors Hospital arbitrating surgery.
She was born on July 11, 1958 to the late William Herman Abrams Jr. and Shirley Mae Gunn Abrams.
Shirley graduated with honors from George W. Watkins school in New Kent County. Later in life she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree. She was always energetic and thrived to constantly learn new things.
For many years Shirley was a member of Second Liberty Baptist Church in Quinton before becoming a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Richmond under the leadership of the late Pastor Fred A. Hannah.
Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Alfred Brown and from that union two sons, Demond Brown and Antonio Brown, were born.
She was a diligent worker while employed at Westmoreland Mental Hospital. Later she was employed and retired from Coca-Cola.
After many years Shirley met and married Anthony Christian, who preceded her in death after 17 years of marriage. Anthony loved and cared dearly for Shirley and her sons.
Shirley was also preceded in death by one brother, William Abrams III and one sister Alease Abrams.
Surviving are her two sons, Demond Brown (Keyomie) and Antonio Brown; nine grandchildren, Terell, Brianna, Isaiah, Ilijsha, Demonte, Jeramiah, Ta’Niya, Talon, and Aaden; three brothers, Charles Abrams, James O’Neal Abrams and Jason Abrams; a host of other relatives and friends, one devoted lifelong friend, Rosa Daniels.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Interment private. Livestreaming at scottsfuneralhome.com
