Percy G. Smith, Sr., 82, was born December 20, 1939, in Halifax, North Carolina to the late Willie Mack Smith and Etherine McDaniel. Percy passed away on July 13, 2022. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma and Annie. Percy was happily married to the love of his life, Lovelean Smith, for over 60 years, and from this union a daughter and son were born. He was a hard-working man and was loved by all of his co-workers. Percy worked for Precision Machine Company for over thiry-five years. He later went to work for Henrico County for fifteen years until his retirement in 2019.. Percy always emphasized the importance of family and friends. From frequent visits to their homes to consistently attending famiy reunions, he always made sure to spend time with his family. He loved to travel, watch Western movies, shine his "Chevy", and play with his great-grandson. Percy was known for his hilarious bluntness and unrivaled wisdom. Despite his seemingly serious demeanor, he spoiled his three granddaughters. He let them get away with almost anything. Percy was affectionately known as "Papa" by his grandchildren. Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Lovelean; two children, Bernadine and Percy (Angela); three granddaughters, Brittany, Michelle and Ashley; one great-grandson, Deion; two sisters-in-law, Norma (George) and Nettie; one brother-in-law, John, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a faithful cousin and friend to Claudius Smith until his passing. We are remembering all the trips they took together back home to N.C., and just hanging at the house. Family men and making us laugh all day. Garland will be missed. Claudius Smith Jr (Junnie) and family.
