John Geoffrey Brown, 24, a beautiful soul and a brilliant mind, was born on September 12, 1999 and was received by the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He touched the lives of so many in a quiet yet impactful way. John loved the science of things and freely shared his knowledge of quantum physics, the theory of relativity and the wonders of space with anyone who would dare to engage in this discussion. He had a creative and remarkable mind with an ability to build and bring machines to life with broken pieces of something else or his 3D printer. John didn't need someone else to show him how to be creative. He harnessed his own creativity and forged his own path, with a sweet, gentle spirit.
In 2017 John graduated from Mechanicsville High School and from his junior year on his teachers had him teaching robotics and physics classes. Cooking was one of the ways he showed love. Consider yourself lucky if you ever had the opportunity to hear him elaborate on the science of flavors and tried his phenomenal smoked meats. He made the grill he cooked on.
Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, especially trips with his dad and his sisters to the Outer Banks. John had a heart as boundless as his magnetic presence, standing at 6 foot 7 inches. As introverted as he was, people were drawn to him.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Regina Coleman Brown; grandparents, Louis D. Coleman, Sr. and John and Gloria Brown. Surviving are his loving father, Geoffrey Brown; stepmother, Paula; five siblings, Kendyll, Christina, Lauren, Zareah and Sandhya; maternal grandmother, Doris Coleman; uncles, John Alan (Jean), David Reid (Reyna), Peter Carrington and Louis Coleman, Jr. (Nichole); a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at First Shiloh Baptist Church, 8150 Walnut Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Interment church cemetery.
The family requests that attendees wear Hawaiian or floral print in John's honor. Expressions of love and support (flowers and cards) can be sent to the church.
Arrangements by Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd.

Thinking about and praying for you and your family
John. This is hard. This is tough. I thought you weren't texting me back. I thought maybe you blocked me. Maybe something happened. By chance, I decided to look up your name. And this is what I see. My heart goes out to the whole family. John was so amazing and touched so many lives. Thank you for allowing me in your heart. You will be missed dearly.
This news caught me by surprise to say the least. John..to say that there is nobody else like you is definitely an understatement. You are missed forever. -Raven
I knew John for 2 short years but that was more than enough for me to see what a truly kind, caring spirit he has. I thank him for allowing me to be a part of his time on earth. Sending my love and condolences to his family💜
The first time I met John was at my Granddaughter Amber and her husband Eric Witt's house on April 6, 2024, at Amber's Surprise Birthday party. When John came into the room he had an aura around him like the warmth of Sunshine filling the room. John was a very tall young man. His gentle manner and welcoming smile, he politely shook my hand and made feel like we had known each other for a long time. John felt comfortable being with Amber, Eric and his friends with his easygoing smile. Talking to John was so interesting and enjoyed listening and sharing stories of himself and of Amber and and Eric. Our brief encounter on that Special evening was a God Wink, to be cherished and hold close to my heart. The world has lost a Bright Star shining Bright! Now John's Bright Light will shine from Heaven, as an Guardian Angel, keeping watch over the ones he Loved and his Spirit will always live on in our thoughts and in our Hearts!! John may you Rest In Peace!! Lovingly, Sylvia Arbogast
I remember when we all went to the amusement park together when you & your sisters , and my two were little ones. We all had such a great time. RIP. You will be missed. -Holly Pittman (cousin)
John you are such a beautiful gentle giant. It was an honor & joy to run with you in High School and graduate alongside your loving sister, Kendyll. I can recall being just in awe from watching you double back from basketball ball practice and effortlessly tear up the track in the 100m and the high jump pit in basically 3 steps or less. It was incredible. What a joy it was to witness such talent. Even out of the few interactions we had, you emulated this magnetic aura similar to your sister whom I grew up with ever since 5th grade, that won the hearts of everyone in little to no words. Must run in the family. I aspire to have that someday. Take care of my mother up there. I know she will do the same for you without hesitation. I know y'all are watching over Kendyll and I down here. We love you and miss you my brother.
Love,
Dhani-Sinaan (Sheldon)

Love and miss you, John Brown... -Your Bonus Mom, Paula
I will deeply miss your infectious laugh, especially those moments right after I hugged your waist and looked up with a smile, saying, "I always forget how tall you are." Family game nights will never be the same without your joyful presence. You were always the first to offer a helping hand whenever I needed it. Our family will be forever changed by the absence of your laughter, your smile, and the light you brought into our lives. Until we meet again, know that I love you.
With all my heart, Aunt Nichole ❤️
