JoAnn Caleb gained her heavenly wings on January 20, 2025. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 20, 1957.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her father, John J. Caleb and her mother, Katie Estelle McZion. JoAnn liked to be called “Caleb.” She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, “The Mighty Vikings,” in 1976, where she was a cheerleader. She was always a good dancer and never had a problem remembering the dance routines. Her favorite hobbies included dancing, fishing, bowling, cooking, and going to the movies. JoAnn also loved old movies on TV, particularly Gunsmoke.

JoAnn loved to host parties and was known as “Ms. Hospitality.” She was always the life of the party, and her spirit and attitude towards life was always upbeat and positive. Family members frequently asked JoAnn to cook because she was known as the cook in the family.
JoAnn was loved by many. She had a kind heart and a warm spirit. She had faith and trust in her God. She will be greatly missed.

I humbly offer my sincere condolences to JoAnn Caleb's family during this hour of bereavement. I had the privilege and the honor of meeting Caleb in the Rooms of Recovery in 2007. From the very first day we met she treated me like family. I remember seeing Caleb in many meetings of the Rooms of Recovery.
There were times when Caleb asked me to give her a ride home from our Recovery Rooms. As well come and pick her up to attend a meeting. JoAnn was a very private person. But if she took any interests in you, you best believe she cared about your well-being. I know that to be true.
The last few years I and Caleb, and others would stay after the meeting and play some Bid Whist. On occasions were partners, and other times we played against one another. For Caleb it really didn't matter who won. Simply having fun and enjoying loving life one day at a time. That's all that matters to Caleb.
Also, Caleb had an affectionate smile. When Caleb came into the Recovery Rooms, she brought a brightness that shined throughout the room. Caleb was a great source of inspiration in my personal Recovery. I am truly truly grateful to have met her as family/friend.
Their was always a certain aire about you. I will always remember that you loved clothes especially hats and pocketbooks. Take your rest Nubian Queen♥️
To the family of JoAnne, will miss seeing her and her chilling this summer, and always, but she will never be forgotten. Condolences to the family at this significant time. Pray 🙏
