Jim Hunt, was my first boss. He was the Executive Director of the Church Hill Model Cities Program an offshoot of a Richmond Community Action Program that was designed to improve the quality of live to residents of Church Hill. I was the Director of Community Organization.
Jim had a tough job, trying to run a staff, answer to a Board of Directors, respond to the needs of the community, deal with a hostile local, state and federal government, in an era of gentrification and constant changing expectations on all sides.
Jim had the ability to work in this Brunswick Stew. He knew Church Hill from the community leaders to the guys in the street. He had a smile and a positive attitude to work with Washington and the downtown business leaders. He was a gentle soul.
I am quite sure he learned a lot of lessons from his experience at Model Cities. I know I did.
To his family, I say fear not for he is in a better place and may his memory live on for ever. Michael Brown

James W. Hunt, Jr. a man who loved God, his wife and family, with the respect of friends and community alike. James will not be forgotten and His legacy lives on. My fondest memories were his fervent prayers and being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. To Wanda, his wife, his sister Lydia, and Family. Take comfort in knowing that after the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for the life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease. After Life's cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace. My prayers are God's continued strength and comfort be with you.
