James E. Coleman, Sr., 81, of Midlothian, died May 23, 2021 in Lynchburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Wilbur Coleman, Sr. and Marion Spruel Coleman. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Dr. Lauretta Atkinson Coleman; son, Rev. Dr. James E. Coleman, Jr. (Rev. Dr. Patricia) of Lynchburg, VA; four grandchildren, Rev. Jacqueline Shiver, Rev. Eric Coleman (Briana), Joy Coleman and Majesty Coleman; great granddaughter, Aria Grace Shiver; siblings, Maurice Wilber Coleman, Jr., of Baltimore, MD and Marie Coleman Lassiter (Gary) of Philadelphia, PA; devoted brothers and sisters-in-law, Yvonne Casson (Paul), Rex Atkinson, Sr. (Frances) and Myra Atkinson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends, amongst them a life-long devoted line brother, Romeo Outlaw. Remains rest at Franklin Hutcherson Funeral Home, Lynchburg, Va. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Providence Transformation Church International, 400 Oakley Avenue, Lynchburg, VA. Upon arrival, remains will rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29 at St. Peter Baptist Church, 2040 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA. Dr. Kirkland R. Walton officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens.
