On Monday, April 15, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call from labor to reward, Sister Dora Mealy Taylor, 82, of Henrico.
She was born in Goochland County, Virginia to Silas M. Mealy, Sr. and Mary I. Mealy on September 7, 1941.
Dora graduated from Goochland County High School. She joined church at an early age and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In her earlier years, she was employed at Publishers Envelope Company, Beaumont and James River Correctional Centers and Ukrop's, from where she retired after many years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Milton, Silas and Irving Mealy. Surviving are her devoted son, Sidney Bryce (D'Anna); granddaughter, Alexis, sister, Elsie Smith, a host of nieces, one devoted, Lisa Smith; nephews; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Mealy and Cozie Mealy; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Interment private. Livestreaming at scottsfuneralhome.com
To Sydney and family, I am praying that the Holy Spirit will be with you and your family during these cloudy days. I am truly gonna miss Dora as I feel like she was a part of my family. May God continue to strengthen and comfort you in the days to come.
