I met Deborah through her work and service at Velocity Christian Church in Glen Allen. What a great pleasure it was to chat with her about her faith in Christ Jesus! She never complained and it was always so uplifting to see her on the front row each Sunday. Her victory was announced on January 14th at Velocity and the church family was very moved with vibrant memories of her ceaseless dedication to attend church and bible studies. I would often speak with her after church service, and she never failed to show her love and care for everyone. We will miss her greatly; she has won her race and earned her wings in heaven. Deborah was a true inspiration, she always demonstrated faith, strength and resilience to all our single mothers she served while volunteering at our Fresh Start For Single Mothers program at Velocity Church. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 tells us that we will one day join those who have passed on before us with the Lord. I pray for God's comfort and presence for all of the family, friends and loved ones of my godmother, Deborah Whitaker. Although I didn't know her well, I remember the joy her friendship brought to my parents. She will truly be missed. -Branden Nash

Ashley and Morgan, my heart goes to out to you both. I know the loss of a mother who meant so much to who you are. Grieve your mother as you wish for however long necessary.
