On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Deborah Perry-Hoover departed this life peacefully at VCU Health. Deborah was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 26, 1959. She was the daughter of William and Annie Perry and was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Tony Christmas.
She graduated from Armstrong High School in Richmond, VA in 1977. She was a proud Wildcat (Armstrong! Armstrong!) and operated in the capacity of secretary for the alumni chapter, Class of 1977. She led a varied career, holding positions in banking, customer service, transportation and logistics. Yet, nothing fulfilled her more than gardening -- she could never have too many flowers!
She is survived by her husband Anthony Darryl Davis and only son, Eugene ‘CJ’ Perry; sisters Valerie Apperson (Keith), and Rema Perry; niece Natalie Munford; nephews Nathan ‘Rock’ Munford IV (Adero), and Chuck Perry (Rema’s fur baby), and a host of great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to honor the following individuals as deeply cherished extended family: Jan Penn Hembrick (Bob), Kirk Jones, Wanda Hunter-Canda, Stan Miles (Pat), Lillie Dupree-Cosely (Melvin Sr.), Madelyn White, Yvonne, Willette King, Adriane Whitlock and Nikki Scott.
“Now the evening star is fading, Day is drawing to a close, And our hearts are heavy-laden, Full of sorrow, full of woe. Armstrong! Armstrong! Alma Mater dear, May joy be yours,
May peace be yours, Throughout the years.” -- Lyrics & Music by Reginald Farrar (Armstrong High School Student, 1930s)
Arrangements by Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Services will be private.
Cards, flowers, and other items of compassion can be delivered to 3113 Barton Avenue, Richmond, VA. 23222.
