Mr. Thomas J. Armstrong, Jr. better known as T.J., passed away on Monday December 30, 2024 at home surrounded by his beloved family at the tender age 87 in Valdosta Georgia.
He was born on November 1, 1937, to the late Thomas JeffersonArmstrong, Sr. and Ella Wade Armstrong, the 3rd child of 12. Both parents, five of his siblings, and his youngest of three sons, Gregory Armstrong, preceded him in death.
TJ was an avid basketball player in high school. A graduate of Pender County Training School located in Burgan, North Carolina with the class of 1958.
TJ then moved to Newark, New Jersey soon after graduating where he later met his future wife, Anita Louise Bess Armstrong. They married in 1960.
He was an employee of Proll Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield, N.J. for 25 years as an injecting molding supervisor, until he retired in 1999, and then relocated to Valdosta, Georgia. He then began working for Wild Adventures shortly after moving down south, as a ticket taker for a number of years. He also was an ardent bowler and was fervently successful in many tournaments, going so far as to be considered a semi-pro bowler. He enthusiastically shared his love of bowling with all of his grandchildren, constantly taking them on weekly trips to the alley every summer.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories; his loving wife, Anita, of 64 years; two sons Thomas J. Armstrong III (wife Patrice), Kenneth Armstrong (wife Duanna) Lawrenceville, GA.; Five grandchildren, Monica Hendrickson, Sade Boone, Nikita Nichols (husband Tyler), Ayanna Armstrong, and Nayib Armstrong along with five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alene Carr, Gertrude Armstrong, and Ruth Anne Armstrong along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Home going service for Mr. Thomas J. Armstrong will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 11:00 A. M. at St. John A. M. E. Church 800 W. Magnolia Street Rev. Kelly Faulk is the pastor and will be officiating. The burial will follow in the Walls Cemetery.
