Kevin was a man who never met a stranger. Most will remember him for his infectious laugh and silly jokes. Behind the laughter, was a man who served in many capacities. Kevin Riddick was a member of the United States Air Force for 20 years, followed by a second career in law enforcement at Hamilton Correctional Facility in Jasper, Florida. Kevin also served his community. In his role as Vice Chair of Membership for Lowndes County Democratic Party, Kevin pounded the pavement, registering citizens to vote and informing them of their rights. He was an advocate for change and diligently fought for the rights of Black Americans in his community. His love for the community was unmatched by his love and devotion to God and his family. He showed love to others as God shows his love to us. He never judged or had a harsh word to say. Reverend Kevin Riddick was a man of wisdom and sound advice, reminding people to keep the faith and hold on to God’s promises. He was a friend to many because of his pure heart and love for people.
Kevin passed away on January 22, 2024 at the age of 69. He was born on May 7th, 1954 to Clayola Riddick and Rudolph Burke. Kevin grew up in Springfield, NY where attended Springfield Gardens High School before attending State University of New York at Old Westbury, where he studied drama. After completing four years, Kevin enlisted in the US Air Force. Kevin is survived by daughters Brittany (Guy) Holmes and Tiffany Riddick, and Grandson Triston Riddick, from his first marriage to Veronica Riddick.
Kevin Riddick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Riddick and his mother, Clayola Riddick. He is survived by children Sierra, Cory (Dephamia), and Cameron (C’Tara) Marable; brother-in-law, Rogers Johnson Sr.; sisters-in-law Karen (Derrick) Rose, Michelle Johnson, Marsha Parker, and Myrtice Jackson; niece LaSharon Jackson; cousin David Johnson; Godson DJ Thompson; five grandchildren Jordan, Justin, Chelsey, Quincy, and Julius; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Later in life, Kevin was elated to find more family who immediately embraced him, Abraham and Joylette West; Desiree Colman; Carmen Hyman; Tanisha, Mary, and Cynthia Scarlett; and several other members of the Creque family.
