Robert Lee Jefferson known as “Mookie” was born on October 4, 1958 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late John Peter Jefferson and Mary Green Jefferson.
Robert attended Furman High School in Sumter South Carolina, and graduated from Scott's Branch High School in Clarendon County in 1979.
He was a member of Antioch UME Church located in Pinewood, South Carolina where he served as a Trustee.
He worked in construction for over 40 years in Sumter County and the surrounding area. He began his career in construction alongside his father, John Peter, at the age of 19.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother to his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. He was a fun, loving guy. He made everyone around him laugh and felt welcome. If you met Mookie, you never met a stranger. God saw the need to give His servant rest. He called Robert Lee Jefferson from his labor unto reward on Friday June 18, 2021, at McLeod Health Clarendon, Manning, South Carolina.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Catherine House Jefferson; two daughters, Veronica Jefferson and Miesha Jefferson; one son, Fredrick McBride; five grandchildren: Jaynayisha Jefferson, Karnesha Jefferson, Jaiyden Wilson, Briceton Dorch and Shadaya McBride; two brothers: Johnny (Cecelia) Jefferson of Greensboro, NC, Richard (Stephanie) Jefferson of Colonial Heights, VA; three sisters, Canza Green Jefferson and Elease Jefferson both of Pinewood, SC and Ernestine (Mack) Brogdon of Alcolu, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jefferson will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Hayes F. Samuels Sr., Memorial Chapel, 114 North Church St. Manning, SC. Pastor Johnathan Smith, officiating, Pastor Cheryl Gaston, presiding, Pastor James Clark, Pastor Fenia Ragin and Min. George Pearson assisting. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery Rimini, SC.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1134 Chitmunk Lane, Pinewood, SC.
A great family man when u see him u see his wife .very nice person who always smiling and always had a joke u will be miss .
As neighbors and friends growing up, I remember Robert as someone that was always laughing full of life joking playful good person to be with, RIP my brother.
He was a joyful and smiling person we will always love and remember you Grandad/Husband
