Manning, SC
Charlie Lee McKenzie, son of the late J. C. Ham and Shellie Ann McKenzie, was born March 8, 1960 in Gable, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roosevelt McKenzie and A. C. Higgins, and one sister, Doris Ann Davis.
He received his former education at East Clarendon High School, Tuberville, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined Howard Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in New Zion, South Carolina.
He was very loving to everyone he knew, loved to play sports and have fun. He played baseball and football at East Clarendon High School and later with the Gable Bull Dogs Community Team, Gable, South Carolina until his health failed.
On May 26, 2021, at McLeod Health Clarendon, he transition from earth to his heavenly home to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Betty Ann Higgins of Kingstree, SC; three brothers, Harry Lee McKenzie of the home, Roger McKenzie of Manning, SC and John (Anne) McKenzie of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one brother-in-law, Bennie L. Davis of Fort Gaines, GA; two extended sisters, Mary McKenzie and Jannie McKenzie both of Gable, SC; five extended brothers: Willie James (Hattie) McKenzie of Gable, SC, George Lee McKenzie and Freddie (Vicky) McKenzie both of Sumter, SC, Lincoln McKenzie of Andrew, SC and Willie Lee McKenzie of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Mr. McKenzie will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 4, 2021 at Howard Chapel AME Church Cemetery, New Zion, SC. Rev. Robert E. Galloway Pastor officiating, Rev. Jerome McCray presiding, Rev. Mary Hagen assisting.
The family is receiving friends at his residence, 2064 Cecil McFadden Road, Gable, SC.
