Elgin, SC
On the afternoon of July 11, 2021, at the Atrium Health, Charlotte, North Carolina, God in His infinite wisdom called His Faithful Servant--Agnes Diane King Jones home.
Diane, widow of Levy Jones, was born the daughter of the late James Isiah King and Martha Agnes Whack King in Manning, South Carolina. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Levi Jones and together they were blessed to rear four children.
Her calling to Christ came early, when she joined William Chapel Christian Church where she remained a member. After relocating to Elgin, South Carolina she worshiped at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the watchful eye of Pastor Charles A. DeLaughter, Columbia, SC.
Diane attended Wilson Elementary School and was a 1972 graduate of Manning High School. After graduating, she earned a degree in business from Columbia Junior College. She began her work career with the South Carolina Department of Higher Education in Columbia and retired from the Richland County Department of Social Services, Child Support Division. Her lifelong service reflected in her cheerful demeanor regardless of her personal life challenges with everyone she encountered. She always greeted everyone with soft spoken word and contagious smile.
Those who remain to grow from being loved by her and to see her visions in the future are: a son, Shawn Jones, Elgin, SC and a daughter, Rhonda Kimberly (Aaronson) Franks, Charlotte, NC; she was blessed with a blended family pf two additional children, Cory (Carmen) Dozier, Columbia, SC and Cheryll Jones, Fredericksburg, MD; brother, James Darryl (Deloris) King of Manning, SC; two Sisters: Barbara Mitchum of Manning, SC and Linda (William) Grant, of Alcolu, SC; nine grandchildren: Autumn, Kendyll, Zaria, Jade, Caleb, Brielle, Carley and Josh; sisters-in-law, Alice Singleton, Johnny Ann Massey, Gwendolyn Jones, Trudi Khan, Bernadean (Michael "Smitty") Smith, Yvette Mobley and Jeffer Mae Mills; brothers-in-law, Aaron Jones, Larry Jones and Henry Lemons; two special friends: Sarah Pinckney-Holland and Debra Boulware; a host of nieces nephews, many other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones were held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Hayes F. Samuels, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, SC. Burial followed in the William Chapel Church Cemetery, 521 East Greeleyville Highway, Manning, SC.
The family received friends Thursday, July 15th and Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4PM til 8PM at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Deloris King, 7980 Greeleyville Hwy, Manning, SC.
