Mable M. Rodgers, “Baby Sister”, was born December 29, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born to Nathaniel & Gertrude Mondane; both preceded her in death. She is the last of her brothers and sisters to be called home.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ at Warren United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was the lead singer of the choir and read the weekly announcements. She was also a part of the United Methodist Women’s Auxiliary.
Mable was united with the late Emmit Rodgers Jr.; to this union, eight children were born, Sheila Rodgers, Santa Ana, CA, Emmit Rodgers III, preceded her in death, Elbert Rodgers, Memphis, TN, Cecelia Woods, Memphis, TN, Darryl Rodgers (Geraldine), Lithonia, GA, Rosalyn Rodgers, Decatur, GA, Patrick Rodgers, preceded her in death, and Gerald W. Rodgers, preceded her in death. Along with her children she leaves to mourn her passing her grandchildren, Christy, Derrick, Tracey, Torya, Craig, Tarah, Devin, Patrick, Chelsea, and DeGeraldta, and a host of great-grandchildren, family members, and friends.
Mable was a dedicated employee of Methodist Hospital where she worked many years, never missing a day of work. She also worked alongside her mother where they served parties, something she enjoyed. The job she enjoyed most was sitting on her front porch watching the cars and people go by, drinking her ice water and smoking her cigarettes.
Many of you have been touched in some way by the richness and zest for life that Mable M. Rodgers possessed. She had a beautiful spirit and a love for GOD that anyone who met her could see right from the start. She will be missed by all who knew her. Let her spirit live on with each of us.

Could always stop by and get a message to Cecilia about class stuff. She learned my name and called for me when I was going to wrong door. Just another going home.
Had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Rodgers during the celebration of her 75th birthday. She was truly a joy. Her daughter Rosalyn always spoke of her with love and admiration. I am joining the prayer warriors in sending up prayers of comfort during this season of sadness.
