When Leroy retired, he was a member of the Ward Chapel AME Church in Junction City, KS where he served as an Usher and Steward. His second job started in Junction City and concluded in Ft Lauderdale, FL after his military retirement, was with the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service.
The family moved to Ft Lauderdale, FL in the early nineties after the only grandchild was born. He joined the Mt Hermon AME Church and served as an Usher, a Steward and a member of the Beautification Committee until he relocated to Cordova, TN in 2005.
He and Juanita joined St Andrew AME Church in February 2006 and he has been a member of The Force, The Caregivers Group and The Spiritmen.

I will miss he's ice tea
I extend my sincere sympathy to the Phillips family in the loss of Leroy. I remember when the family moved to the Memphis area. Leroy's mother-in-law & sister-in-law lived two doors from my family. Through the years I enjoyed their visits prior to their decision to move to Cordova, TN.
Letoy never met a stranger. It's ironic that we both were born on the same date- Jan. 19th. I will cherish our friendship. He will be missed. Rest In Peace Leroy. - Hollye M Shotwell
