Obituary For Christine Camille Trezevant Allen

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted… Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (KJV)

Christine Camille Trezevant Allen was born on April 22, 1935, to the late John and Lettie Harris Trezevant, Sr. She was blessed to be one of nine siblings, all of whom predeceased her. Mrs. Allen always exhibited a calm countenance and sweet spirit, which she must have acquired as she attempted to secure her place among her siblings. She married James Z. Oliver, and to that union, one daughter, Ailene, was born and was enthusiastically welcomed and lovingly embraced. She later married William Parker Allen, Jr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Geeter High School and Draughon’s Junior College where she majored in nursing. She later went on to finish the Senior Citizen’s Police Academy. Over the more than eight decades of her life, Mrs. Allen had several careers; she was a beautician, seamstress and nurse. However, her culinary skills took center stage and drew scores to her home on New Year’s Day to welcome a new year and new beginnings. Mrs. Allen was spiritually anchored from an early age, having been baptized at the Lake Grove Baptist Church, Weaver Road, Memphis, Tennessee. She later became a member of the Carroll Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, Walls, Mississippi. However, her long-standing church home was the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, where she faithfully served for over forty-five years in various capacities, including church secretary, Missionary Society secretary, Mother Board and Sanctuary Choir. Blessed with gifted hands, Mrs. Allen could sew, knit and crochet. And while she loved to sing and travel, there were few things she loved more than gardening; and she was good at it. On any given day, you might find her planting, clipping, cutting, and pruning plants or flowers at the home of her daughter, Ailene. She was also a proud member of the Ruth Tate Senior Center. Christine Trezevant Allen suddenly transitioned this life on July 2, 2022, at Methodist University Hospital. The loving memories of Christine Trezevant Allen will be cherished for a lifetime by her only child, Ailene Oliver Booker; five sisters-in-law, Peggy Matthews (Theodore), Penelope White (Billy), Mary Trezevant, Carolyn Trezevant, and Creasie Ann Trezevant; one brother-in-law, John Murray, Sr., five first cousins, Annette Harris Washington (Tommy), Idell Sprill (Johnny), Rev. Charles Harris (Phillistine), Dorothy Echols, and Mary Echols; four bonus grandchildren, Vonda, Tina (Wendell), Ray, and Ellis, Jr.; three bonus great-grandchildren, Tiana, Michael Ellis (Makayla) and Ella; and one bonus great-great-grandchild, Darrius; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins whom she dearly loved.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 10:00am-12:00 noon with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon both will be held at Pilgrim Rest 1394 Willie Mitchell Blvd

Interment will be in New Park Cemetery, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:00am
