Alsay Ray Montgomery, Jr. was born to Ardena Cole and the late Alsay Ray Montgomery Sr. on November 15th 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
Ray graduated from Trezevant High School in the Class of 1995. He was an outstanding student and athlete. While at Trezevant, Ray was recognized as a talented quarterback. Always eager to learn, Ray continued his education at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN after high school.
Ray loved the Lord. He was a dedicated husband, father and career man. Ray’s genuine spirit and kind heart will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand. Some of his passions were football, fishing and playing chess.
On the morning of January 1st 2024, Ray was called to his final resting place. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Ms. Ardena Cole; his wife, Sharonda Parker-Montgomery; three children, Suterryck Montgomery, Ja’Nya Gloster, and Ja’Quavious King; and two grandchildren. He also leaves behind three siblings-brothers, Ladarrion Briggs and Calvin Mitchell, and sister, Ebony Mitchell; and four aunts, Sherron Whitmore (Michael), Yolanda Montgomery, Carrie Glynn (Willie), and Ardelia Coleman.
His father, Alsay Ray Montgomery Sr.; sister, Jan Smith (Tweety), and brother, Tamarcus Mitchell, preceded him in death.
Ray also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends who will remember him fondly.
The family receive friends Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Celebration of Life will be Friday, January 12, 2024 12:00noon both will held at RS Lewis & Sons 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119
Alsay Montgomery AKA Ray Ray, was very special to me. You started as my coworker and grew to be even closer to me than half of my family members. I thank God I met you Ray Ray and I will forever remember the great times A big part of me is missing and lost without you Ray Ray. To know I will never see you again, is definitely a hard pill to swallow. I love you man💜. I still hear your voice and your laugh. You were indeed a great person and I know heaven is definitely enjoying you. Bark on baby
