Renee Lisa Leftwich Terrell was born on January 4, 1967 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. Renee peacefully transitioned into the arms of the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2024. She was the youngest daughter of Edward Earl Leftwich and Joyce Simon Leftwich. Renee leaves to cherish her memories, one devoted daughter, April Janaye Leftwich (“Pooh”), Mario Rodgers (“son-in-law”), and three spirited, gifted, and loving grandchildren: Landon Jakhar Leftwich, Lennox Dior Leftwich, and Creed Rylan Rodgers; sisters, Marian Leftwich Elmore, Shirelle Leftwich, Patricia Leftwich Phillips (Reginald), and Joyce Leftwich Mays (Charles II); brothers, Norman Leftwich (Cynthia), Earl Leftwich , Timothy Leftwich (Cynthia), Joseph Leftwich and Anthony Leftwich (nephew "brother"); beloved niece, Jessica Leftwich, and great-niece, Shania Kirby Davis, a dear sister-friend, Linda Thomas Harris, and two goddaughters, Sabrina Thomas-Maxwell and Latika Lee; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Marian Page Simon Sellman and Dorothy Billings Leftwich; her grandfathers, Roland Lincoln Simon and Francis Edward Leftwich; her father, Retired Tsgt Edward Earl Leftwich, her mother, Elder Joyce Simon Leftwich, and her sister Deborah Leftwich.
Renee accepted Christ as her personal savior in 1980 at Freedom Life Ministries, Montgomery, Alabama, under the leadership of the late Bishop Donald J. Ritchie. She had a love for sports, participating in intramural basketball, bowling, softball, and soccer. She was an avid Alabama football fan, “Roll Tide!” Renee was a 1984 graduate of George Washington Carver High School. She was employed by First Alabama Bank, Max Federal Credit Union, and Montgomery Cardiology Associates. Renee earned her cosmetology degree from John M. Patterson Technical College. She was an exceptional master cosmetologist and worked at Hairmasters Signature Salon, JCPenney Salon, and for several senior-living facilities where she took great pride in caring for her clients and co-workers. Beyond everything Renee accomplished in life, her greatest love was her daughter April and her three grandchildren.
For seven years “Grammy” fought her health challenges with resilience, never missing a beat when it came to Landon, Lennox, and Creed. She was a shining example of love. Renee shared a unique relationship with each of her siblings. Whenever they came together, there was a party to be had. Renee was affectionately called “Ladybug”, “Pooh”, “Ma” and “NayNee” by her loving family. She mirrored the poise, sophistication, and classiness of her mother and maternal grandmother and the minimalism and organizational skills of her paternal grandmother. Since she was passionate about children, she named herself the “favorite” aunt. Although she was not the youngest child, she was definitely the “baby” of her family. Renee finished her journey with great faith and amazing strength, trusting God that her daughter and grandchildren would be okay. Renee left us with an abundance of love, laughter, and memories to cherish.
The viewing is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the Celebration of Life is Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00 am. Both services will be held at Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, 1412 Adams Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.

On behalf of Helen Crawford and family, we send our sincere condolences to the family of Renee. I met Renee many, many years ago and she was such a sweetheart! Rest in Jesus Renee, I'll see you in the morning.
It was such a pleasure to know and care for Ms. Terrell over the past 7 years. She had such a loving, kind, and sweet spirit. She fought the good fight and ran the race given to her by our heavenly Father with endurance. Her love for Jesus Christ was evident by the love she had in her heart for others. The Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 1:21 To live is Christ and to die is gain. My friend is truly resting in peace with our heavenly Father where she has no more pain or suffering. I pray for comfort and peace for the family during this difficult time. Fix your eyes on Jesus Christ who will see you through each and every moment. Love, Renee Warren

I wish I you could see the heavenly view, how God knows what you are going through, how every hour he's by your side, your faithful shepherd, friend, and guide. I wish you could see His smiling face, as he pours out His love and grace, replacing fears with faith to stand, for He is the One who holds your hand. Isaiah 41:10 says, Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand. Praying for you and your family. Aunt Lumae

Renee was such a beautiful person from the physical aspect as well as inside. In High School, although I wasn't popular, she still made me feel as though I was. She had such an amazing smile and the one person you'd love to hear laugh. I had been wondering for a long time, where she might be, how she was doing and what she was up to. I'm certainly disappointed that I didn't get the opportunity to reconnect with her before she passed. I'll miss her dearly and my heart goes out to the family and all who knew her. Rest Easy my Queen.
