Mr. Bates was the epitome of a good soldier—steadfast, patient, and full of grace. Every encounter with him left me inspired, as he always shared a kind and encouraging word. His visits to Selma were marked by a quiet humility and an unwavering commitment to lifting others up. He reignited my passion and reminded me of the power of service and dedication. I am profoundly grateful to have crossed paths with this humble giant.
My condolences and prayers go out to the Bates family in this hour of bereavement. May you find comfort and strength during this difficult time.
