He inspired me in many ways but particularly as a minister, a member, steward and trustee of Mt Zion A.M.E Zion Church. We also bonded as fellow educators. Who will teach me Sunday school now? I joined Mount Zion at 9 years old, and CP has been a wonderful light in my life. I joined his Sunday school class when I was a teenager and for almost 32 years, he has been my teacher. Not only was he a wonderful teacher, but while being a student at Georgia Washington, he was a wonderful principal. He voted me in to become a preacher, and he always encourage me to keep going in my studies. Sunday school will never be the same. His seat will be missed. I did not have my physical father, but he was the light that I always needed. To the children, thank you for sharing your dad! Not sure how I will go on in my studies as a child of God, but I'm sure I will. Sunday school was not just a event to attend or a place to go, but a preparation for Worship. CP sure did help prepare my mind and heart for a wonderful worship experience.
Sincere condolences to the Everett Family. C. P. as we called him. He and I were schoolmates at Saint Jude Educational Institute. Praying π that the Lord will strengthen you all during this difficult time. Just keep on trusting in God and He will make everything alright. Rest Well, C. I am absolutely "CRUSHED" and saddened by "CP's" passing! I talked to him a few months ago and he sounded liked he did over sixty years ago! We pledged together at Tuskegee. He was so proud of his family and family history, as well as his church and community history. One of the last comments I made to him was to give Freda a kiss on her forehead. Freda and the Everett Family & Friends, I am sincerely sorry; but, I will treasure my memories of "CP" especially our last two-hour, two-part conversation! I called him while he was away from home; and, he called me back from home soon thereafter. In the latter years, we spent some memorial days on Tuskegee's Campus and Montgomery. Although, many years have passed, I will always remember "CP."
Professor Ronald Boyd
