To be absent from the body is to be alive with Christ. Where do I begin as I reflect on Dr. Leon F. Ross, Sr.? To the family, Sis. Latrice Thomas, daughter of Zion you are, to the Bros. Leon, Lazarus, and the entire family continue in his legacy. Pastor Ross baptized my daughter Hannah at age 5, ordained my two brothers under his leadership, the late Willie Holt, Jr. and Sedrick Sims, called our Mom his shouting partner, and enjoyed good fellowship with our beloved Dad, the late Willie Holt, Sr. I grew up hearing about him on WAPZ as the radio pastor on Saturday mornings his message was to encourage the young folks. He tried to please people as God would have him to do. It would him taught me about please and appease.He loved the Holt and Sims Family and we loved him back. I remember in the supermarket my cell phone rang and I didn't recognize the number and he said" Hello, Hello, Sister Pamela and I was taken aback and I replied,"Yes Sir, Pastor Ross, and he said that's right and I want to see you in church and my daughter in the Lord Hannah, where she at, I responded, I will let you talk to her, he stated, you can talk to anybody on the phone, but I want to see you all in church you all my members. Bible Study would be like church. After COVID 19 hit, I checked on him on Wednesdays as if we were still in Bible Study. It saddened me he retired, but He is still my pastor. I graduated in my knowledge of life and the Bible, so he called me Elder Pamela. His favorite song was "I Got a Mind to Live for Jesus All of My Days"

We are profoundly sadden by the loss of your father Rev. Leon Forte Ross Sr. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones right now.

To the Ross family...my condolences and sympathy to you all...what a Soldier in the army of the Lord. One sermon I will never forget you preached at Weeping Willow when you reached in your pocket after patting it and you pulled out an aspirin saying...."we all are on something even if it is only an aspirin" the jist of that sermon was to say we all are flawed and need help sometimes. I loved the anaylgies you used when preaching and you were always on time. You will be missed but are the epitamy of " Good job thou Faithful Servant of God" Rest in Peace and Power Rev Ross! Thank God for Pastors like Rev Ross who preached the gospel the way that a Pastor is supposed to preach. When I was a very young preacher Pastor Ross the Pastor of Weeping Willow Baptist Church.He would fellowship with my Home Church,I really learned how a minister is supposed to conduct himself from Pastor Ross he was a great inspiration. RIP Rev. Ross. I recalled how kind you were to my father, Rev. Stokes, when he pastored Morning Star. The old Weeping Willow church was right down the street from my father's church. I remember Mrs. Ross playing the piano at Morning Star, too. The fellowship was wonderful. That was way back in the 1980s. Rest well, sir.
