Our beloved Father Deacon Anthony Thorpe transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 3, 2025 at Brightmoor Hospice in Macon, Georgia. Deacon Thorpe the son of Curtis Thorpe and Susan Mae (Hodges) Thorpe was born October 11, 1935 in Bonaire, Georgia. He attended public school in Houston County. At an early age he joined Houston Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served faithfully and became a member of the deacon board. He was ordained in 1989 and had many positions at HMZBC. He was one of the original mission members starting in 1953, Chairman Board of the Deacon, Church Treasurer, member of the building committee for the new edification, Sunday School teacher, Superintendent Convention: Superintendent member, Jackson Gospel Choir, and so on. He also was a favorite member of Shekinah Glory praise and worship center in Macon, Georgia until his health failed. Deacon Thorpe was a dedicated employer of Kmart in Macon, Georgia. He was also employed as Bibb County School System Patrol. Thorpe retired in 2000 from all his jobs. His favorite pastime was fishing, coaching Little League baseball games, and singing gospel hymns. Deacon Thorpe was preceded in death by his son Michael Anthony Thorpe his daughter Kresge Thorpe and his wife Rosa (Jenkins) Thorpe, Five sisters Minnie Jean Eberhardt, Bertha Mae Thorpe Lena Ray ,Lizzie Swarn ,Mamie Lee Jones,and Five brothers Curtis Thorpe Jr. Hawaii Thorpe , Augusta Tharpe, Curtis Allen Tharpe and Nathaniel Tharpe they can talk also lead to cherish his memory and ex-wife Hattie Thorpe four daughters Mary francis Feild , Kimberly Thorpe (Karla) of Conyers Georgia Lisa Thorpe of Decatur Georgia Angela Redding and his favorite son-in-law Isaac Redding of Juliette Georgia and Marlowe Anthony Thorpe(Tamika) of Florida 12 Grand children Antonio Redding (Rhonda) Isaac Redding, Marcus Redding,Mary Parker, Carlos Sutton(Tamkekia)Pharrell Thorpe, Andrea Thorpe ,Anthony Thorpe,Ashley Thorpe,TaMarla Thorpe and TaMarrien Thorpe Kambridge Thorpe 13 great-grandchildren Kamaria Thorpe, Riley Thomas Redding, Madison Lee Redding,Naytoin Thorpe,Zarell Thorpe Isaiah Thorpe, Mak'el Isaiah Parker,Princess Jada Elise Parker, Zy'eir Parker ,Ji'Rah Noell Parker, Brodus Redding Carlos jr.and CarMelia Sutton and a whole lot of nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunties, a lot of friends. In this life he was cherished by many coworkers, Deacons, Deaconess, and everyone else. Thorpe said he “had a great life and he don't regret nothing.”
