Deaconess Emma Lou Dupree Gamble was born on September 30,1931 in Poulan, GA to the late Mr. Horace and Elizabeth Ross Dupree. To this union were born two other siblings that preceded her in death; the late Mr. Horace Dupree, Jr and Willie Dupree.
On February 5, 1949, Emma Dupree married Grady Gamble and out of this union nine children were born. Grady (Howard) Fields of Albany, Ga. Larry (Debra) Gamble of Coco Beach, Florida. Jerry (Linda) Gamble of Albany, Ga. Diane Gamble of Albany, Ga. Bobby Gamble of Lawrenceville, Ga. Dale (Janice) Gamble of Albany, Ga. Lynda (Ivery) Hardy of Albany, Ga. Beverlyn (Vincent) Burke and Charlene Gamble both of Jonesboro, Ga.
Deaconess Emma Gamble was a faithful member of Davis Grove Baptist Church of Warwick, GA both in service and tithe. She served in several capacities at her beloved Davis Grove Church, such as president of the Mission Board, choir member, kitchen committee and mother of the church. She also was a care giver to many and provided transportation, shelter and food to those that were in her care. Through the years, Her home in Ashburn served as a place where babies were born (she delivered a baby), big Sunday meals were cooked not only for her family but those that lived in the area (she believed strongly in feeding people) and the community telephone hub (no one else had a phone in area but them).
Deaconess Emma Gamble was definitely one of a kind! She never met a stranger and truly displayed unconditional love to everyone. She had this way of making you feel so welcomed and at peace whenever you were in her presence. She was such a godly woman who stood firmly on the word of God and loved sharing how good her God was to everyone. She was also the queen of famous sayings and stories! No matter the situation, she always had something for you. She had an amazing sense of humor and will be greatly missed by anyone that has ever been blessed to be in her presence. She impacted every life she encountered.
Deaconess Emma Lou Gamble leaves to honor and celebrate her life and legacy her beautiful nine children, twenty-five amazing grandchildren, sixty-five awesome great-grandchildren and thirty-four blessed great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving church members and friends.
