As a 5th grade student is Mrs. Hawkins class at Winterfield Elementary she was a great inspiration, influence of thr women I've become. At 51 yrs old I still share my memories of her fondly with anyone willing to listen. Teaching was not a job for her, it's was a calling.
My sincere condolences to Ms. Gladys's family. I truly loved her and will miss talking to her. She and my mom (Barbara) were club sisters and we were often together when she lived in Columbus. Love, Denise Wright
It was my honor to serve as Mrs. Hawkin's pastor during my time at Metropolitan UMC. She was faithful in her duties as a communion steward until her health would not allow her to. It then became my joy to visit with her at home and take her communion. Angels guide Ms Gladys safely home. And may God's grace comfort her family as none on earth can. With my condolences... It was my honor to serve as Mrs. Hawkin's pastor during my time at Metropolitan UMC. She was a sweet spirit who was faithful in her duties as a communion steward until her health would not allow. It was then my joy to take her communion at her home and have opportunity to sit and visit. Angels guide her spirit safely home. And may her family find solace in God's grace and love.
