Obituary For Ricky Andre Dowdy

Ricky Andre Dowdy was born December 5, 1958, in High Point, NC to the late Martha C. Dowdy and Clarence Diggs. Along with his parents, Ricky is proceeded in death by siblings, Walter Chisem, John Dowdy, Sandra Dowdy, Valerie Fountain, Terri Dowdy, Gary Dowdy and Earl Dowdy. Also preceding him in death was his canine best friend, Pepper.

Ricky was a long-time employee of Emerywood Baptist Church. When not working he enjoyed sports and working in the yard. On nice days you could often catch him sitting on his porch or cooking on his grill. His family and friends also appreciated how loving, kind, and generous he was. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his remaining siblings, Charlie Dowdy, Regina Patrick and Ronnie Dowdy. Also surviving are his uncle John (Jean) Flowers and his aunt Annie (Doug) Moore. Ricky leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. Among these was the niece that was like a daughter to him, Katina Ijames. Also left to mourn his passing is the niece that he “loved best”, his “Baby Tasha”, Latasha Pegues.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church, 836 W. Lexington Avenue. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

If God ever put two people together it was Rick and me. I had just had a heart attack and needed someone to help me at the house and asked if he knew anyone. He said he worked at the church, but he didn't work on Mondays, but I would have to pick him up. That was a prayer answered for me as there was nothing he could not do. I have photos of him everywhere on my home. Another funny as I would ask him to let me buy something to eat. He would always say no as he liked what he cooked ❤️ya buddy and you will be truly missed.
