Daisy Ruth Tate, born on March 17, 1941 in Gaffney, SC, to the late Mary Tate, departed this earthly life on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Ruth graduated from Granard High School in Gaffney, SC in 1960. She then moved to Washington, DC where she made her home for more than 30 years.
She later relocated to NC and eventually settled in High Point to be closer to her family. Ruth joined Foster Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.D. Curtis, where she remained for several years before becoming a member of Another Chance Ministries pastored by Reverend Fletcher Little. She was a faithful member and served as an usher until her health declined.
Ruth worked as a professional nanny for most of her career. She also worked in managing the care of the elderly, assisting with their physical and cognitive health. Ruth always enjoyed helping seniors and those who were ailing. She would often step in to care for her family and others in need.
Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Tate and Leroy Tate, four sisters, Ida Mae Morgan, Elease Reeder, Juanita Martin, and Evelyn Shippy.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mittie Ruth Tate Barr; a host of devoted nieces and nephews; cousins; and a special friend Mr. Mike McKitten.
While the earthly life of Daisy Ruth Tate has come to a close, her spiritual presence shall forever remain bringing many many fond memories. In the words of her Stevie, one of the children she nannied for: βFor those of us she raised from babies, we learned the most important lessons of life from her: how to love, how to be kind, how to treat others. She instilled those values in us permanently. Her love was the greatest gift and one that I needed to make it through life.β
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
