Ms. Annie Ruth Johnson,80, took flight to Heaven peacefully on Saturday morning, January 13, 2024 at her daughtersβ Carla Bailey resident while surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 21, 1943 to the late William and Mattie Poteat Johnson in High Point, NC. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, William and Robert Johnson and nephew, Clyde Johnson.
She graduated from William Penn High School and was a retired textile connoisseur. An avid card player and lover of bingo.
Annie was a devoted sister, mother, and grandmother always helping those who she could. Annie was a mother to many giving her the nickname βMother Theresaβ,
Her life was beautiful, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Yvette Blackmon (Bruce) of Charlotte, NC, Reginal Bailey, Carla Bailey, Devonne Johnson, Byron (Ebony) Johnson all of High Point, NC; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Josephine, Arlene, Carolyn and Ronnie all of High Point and sisters-in-law, Nanette Johnson of Asheville, NC, Jenny Johnson of High Point, NC; best-friend Barbara Brevard of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
