Mrs. Pattie Smith Brown, 68, transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday March 29, 2023, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital High Point, NC. She was born on April 8, 1954, to the late Tommy and Wanda Smith.
She was born and raised in High Point, NC and was educated in High Point City Public School System.
Pattie was an active member of St. Mary United Methodist Church in Trinity NC. She was a member of the women’s choir, United Methodist Women, and served on the food committee. She was a machine operator with Drexel Heritage, where she retired after eighteen years of service. Pattie returned to work full time at Pruitt Health as dietary aide and retired again after ten years of service. Her last place of employment was with Genesis Healthcare. Pattie was a woman of many hats, and she wore each of them very well. She was a loyal employee, a committed wife, a dedicated mother and literally the best grandmother a child could have. Yet, her best attribute was her endless capacity for expressing love and generosity equally to her family. She made it look easy and she did it with joy in her heart.
Pattie had a unique relationship with each of us and her departure from this earth will be greatly felt and missed by many.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Ronald Leach and Milton Leach, a sister, Gloria Jean Smith, and a great-grandson, Demetrius Brown, III.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of forty-seven years Venson Brown; three daughters, Tammy (Dwight) Talbert, of Lexington, NC, Tracey Jackson, of Archdale, NC; and Bianka Jackson,(Garry Hines) of High Point, NC; six granddaughters, Jahquria Smith, Jashala Smith, Dy-Quanya “Quanie” Dunlap, Destiny Jackson, Jamiyha Jackson, and Jahkia Jackson; six grandsons, Demetrius Brown, Jr., Rikkel Jackson, Jabrell Smith, Nathaniel Wilson, Jamari Dunlap, and Nahzier Dunlap; fourteen great-grands; two step-grandchildren, Tiffany Davis and Destiney Roach; two sisters, Annie Mae Smith of High Point, NC; and Debbie Smith of Upper Marlboro, Md; four brothers, Albert (Wanda) Smith, of Glen Burnie, Md; Tommy Smith Jr, Danny Smith, and Gregory Smith of High Point, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 5583 Rockford Drive, Trinity, NC. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
