Jeanette F. LeGrande departed this earthly life on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was born on March 3, 1946, in Enfield, NC, to the late Eulilla Goins Francis and Eddie Rufus Francis and raised by her guardian parents, the late Jesse and Anne Francis, in Southport, NC. In addition to her biological parents and guardian parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Annice LeGrande, eight siblings, Celestine Williams, Shirley Francis, Elwood Francis, Pearl Taylor, David Francis, Eddie Rufus Francis, Jr., Edna Terry, and James Donald Francis.
Jeanette graduated from BTC in 1962 and continued her education at NC A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Over the years, Jeanette worked in various roles that enriched her professional experience. She contributed her talents to Model City and NC A&T State University. After a fulfilling career dedicated to education, Jeanette retired from Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC. She played a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences of countless students, fostering a supportive learning environment that empowered individuals to achieve their goals. Her legacy continues to inspire those she worked with throughout her career.
Her passion was cooking, baking cakes, and working in the yard. Known for her warm and caring personality, she had a remarkable way of expressing her thoughts candidly, always speaking her mind with honesty and kindness.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Patrice LeGrande; a son, Velvet LeGrande, Jr.; two grandchildren, Kaileaa Ford and Kedrick Ford; a guardian brother, Artinas βRickyβ Francis; two sisters, Erdine Eatmon and Jacqueline (Wayne) Parker; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Our relationship with each other was close as we continued to mature. We were always there for each other. On our birthdays we remembered each other. Annice high school graduation & cookout celebration, I was invited. We were roommates at A&T State University. I am saddened to learn of Jeanette's passing. We worked at GTCC and she was always a very pleasant person .
I first met the Francis family in the summer of 1969 and I have loved them since then. Jeanette's mother Mrs.Francis was especially dear to me. It is with a heavy heart I send my deepest condolences and prayers. Hold onto God's Love and know that His grace and mercy is unending.To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
