Obituary For Mrs. Betty Jane Crawford Murvin

BETTY JANE CRAWFORD MURVIN was the daughter of the late Ellis and Ella Crawford. She was born in High Point, North Carolina on August 25, 1935. Her earthly journey came to a peaceful end as she went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 9, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice Home of High Point. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larnce H. Murvin, Sr.; two sons, Cortez Yhonne and Kirby Jovan; sisters, Agnes Garner, Vivian Williams, Beulah Roebuck, Beatrice Blackburn, Kathy Fonsville, Alice White, Helen Gilmore, and Carole Windom; one brother, Lloyd Crawford, who was MIA in the Korean war.

Betty Murvin attended High Point public schools and graduated from William Penn High School in 1958. She retired from Maryfield Nursing Home in High Point, NC as a housekeeper. She also worked in the Nursery at First United Methodist Church of High Point for 20 years before she retired. She had a big heart and a contagious smile. She loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed walking, puzzles, cooking for her family, and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Lynne Murvin; three sons, Larnce H. Murvin (Teara), Minister Mark Randall “Tyke” Murvin, and Dr. Euart Keith “Bam Bam” Murvin; grandchildren, Cortez Yhonne Murvin, Larnce Henry Murvin, III, Captain Shakeer Antoinette McNair (Jim), Kirby Javan Williams, Cortez (Curt) Yhonne Chapman, Marquita Renee Adams, Jasmani Dominique Butler, and Joshua Keith Murvin; fifteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 1012 Leonard Avenue. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

A Tribute to Mrs. Betty I have so many good memories when I think about your many years of service in the nursery dept. at First United Methodist Church. As your helper for several of those years, I think of your kind and gentle caregiving to the smallest of our congregation. Over the years, you took care of them as newborns and toddlers, then watched as they became teenagers. Much to your delight, many of them returned to see you as high school and college students.
