Mr. Willie Edward Davis was called to his heavenly home on Friday, October 29, 2021, at his residence. He was born on January 28, 1949, in Lexington, NC, a son of the late Rev. Colbert Davis and Nancy Shuford Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cora Mae Davis Overby; a stepdaughter, Marzell Davis; and a sister, Carol Sue Davis.
Willie resided in High Point for several years. He served an enlistment in the United States Army in Vietnam and was discharged honorably. He received an associates degree in Refrigerating and Air Conditioning from Davidson County Community College. He was employed with Sealy Mattress until its closing. He later was employed as an assistant at Austin’s TV Repair of Lexington, NC.
Survivors who loved and will miss him include a son, Willie Davis, Jr. of Middletown, NY; daughters, Teresa Davis and Arnetha Davis, both of Poughkeepsie, NY, a son, Jason Wansley (Sotonya Wansley) of Winston-Salem, NC, a stepson, Ulysses Davis of Poughkeepsie, NY; one sister, Evelyn Jean Davis Hopkins of Newark, NJ; one brother, Timothy Earl Davis (Karen Davis) of High Point, NC; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Church of God of Prophecy. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 9:00 a.m at Salisbury National Cemetery.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

I am greatly honored to have had the opportunity to care for Mr. Davis at the VA Kernersville. He enjoyed life to the fullest and brought so much joy to me and other staff when he visited for appointments. We are indebted to him and appreciative for his service to our Nation.
