James Thomas Jones, Sr., 73, resident of High Point, NC, departed his life journey on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in his home with his family by his side. He was born on June 6, 1949, to the late Ada Mae Powell and Harvey Lee Jones Sr. He is preceded in death by his beloved stepson, Marty Lamont Jones; brother, Willie Edward Jones and his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Gladys Sellers of High Point, N.C.; his children: son, James Thomas (Tanya) Jones Jr. of Hampton, GA.; daughter, Stephanie (Dwayne) Jones Crisp of Greensboro, N.C.; step-daughter, Tiona Sellers of High Point, N.C.; his grandchildren: Amber (Shetara) Jones Rucker of Charlotte, N.C., Daijah (great grand-daughter – Lynix) Jones of Locust Grove, GA.; Quan (great grand-son Syn’Cere) McCurdy of Greensboro, N.C., Diyah Jones of Hampton, GA. Myles Crisp of Greensboro, N.C.; his siblings: sister, Mable Oliver of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Walter Jones of Greensboro, N.C., Harvey (Linda) Jones Jr. of Kernersville, N.C.; his uncle, Paul (Barbara) Powell of Bayshore, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends, especially, his best friend, Ed Carter of Thomasville, N.C. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Monument of Praise Ministries, 321 Oakview Road with Dr. Kevin A. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
