Mr. James Edward Gray, favorably known as “Eddie”, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was the elder son born to the late Rev. James M. Gray and Mrs. Shirley Ann Green Gray Council on February 5, 1966.
He was a 1994 graduate of T.W. Andrews High School, High Point, NC. He earned an early childhood certificate from Guilford Technical Community College. Eddie was a gentle giant, whose kindness and compassion touched many live. His life of service was demonstrated though various roles including Deacon at Stokesdale Church of God (SCOG), Community Outreach Leader, and Praise and Worship leader for well-over 28 years. His love of outreach was the catapult for the SCOG Food bank, which served and ministered to thousands. He was known for that “Delicious Fish” that everyone requested for him to cook. For many years, he was a community volunteer sponsor for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Prison System. He was the Founder and CEO of No Weapon Enterprises. Ed loved to talk and hardly ever met a stranger. Sometime during that conversation, he was going to witness and talk about the Goodness of The Lord, through the Gospel. Most of all, he was dedicated husband, father, son, and friend.
On May 16, 1992, he and the former Andrea Michelle Wilson were joined in Holy Matrimony in the sight of God at First Emmanuel Baptist Church by the late Reverend Lawrence Curtis. Two beautiful daughters were added to their union, Mia Jasmine Ariel Gray and Joya Olivia-Jade Gray. He often spoke lovingly of “his Girls, Micki, Jasmine, Joya, and Shirley. Eddie was employed by Guilford Country Schools.
Left to cherish his memory are, Andrea “Micki”; daughters, Jasmine and Joya; mother, Shirley; and siblings, Chris, Michelle, and Michael; his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of the multitudes he impacted, but especially in Jasmine’s love of Ministry & Fashion and Joy’s Love of Music & The Dallas Cowboys.
Funeral service will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

Hello, Family:
Our Love and Prayers are with you all. "Our Eddie" was so extra special to our Family. Eddie, His Lovely Wife, and Children always showed us Love. Eddie and His Family would feed us and pay for our meal whenever we were around. Eddie was a highly respected Man of God who cared for others. Eddie was indeed a role model for younger men and women around him. Our hearts are broken and we are saddened with the loss of our Cousin and Friend. Look up and Trust God to comfort you during these challenging days and always. God Bless All!
Rev., Dr. Bobby W. Green, Jr. (Bobby, Jr.) and Dr. Gwendolyn Johnson-Green
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can heal the wounded body and mend the broken hearts. He will keep you all during this time that may seem hard but He is your Comforter and will give you the peace and understanding to get through this difficult time. Lean on each other and we will continue to pray for the family as we continue our earthly journey until we are able to see one another again. Eddie you will definitely be missed by those of us whose life you touched. May your legacy continue to reach those far and near. Pastors William & Vanessa Buckson & the Love Faith & Hope Ministries Church family-- High Point, NC
To all loved ones and friends of Ed, I am so sorry for such a great loss! When you met Ed he was gonna preach Jesus to you and plant that seed of salvation. He led many to the Lord! One of the things Ed talked about most is his relationship with Christ and his joy in knowing that when he left his earthly vessel, he was going to be with the Lord!! Ed was gonna brag about his wife, his girls and the rest of his family. We met at SWMS and had an instant connection - JESUS! We shared testimonies, prayed together, invited each other to different events, and shared much laughter! I'm happy my friend MADE IT!! I'm sad he's gone, but glad he's happy! He's in that great crowd of witnesses! I honor your friendship, my big, little brother, Ed Gray!
May The Lord God Comfort Each of you and your family. May the Lord keep Peace in your Hearts. May God Bless
