God granted family and friends with love and laughter through Lauren Eva Terrell Johnson. God granted Moses Terrell and Nellie Briley Terrell the gift of Lauren on October 9, 1965, in Washington, DC.
Lauren was educated in the Washington, DC area schools during her early elementary years. At the age of 8, Lauren moved to High Point, NC to be nurtured and loved by her uncle Ned Briley, Sr. and her aunt Bernice Allred Briley along with their children, James Briley, Bernard Briley, and Ned Briley, Jr. Lauren graduated from Southwest Guilford High School in 1983.
Lauren worked in the furniture industry and school systems prior to her decision to focus full-time on caring for her children and family. In the words of her daughter, Zardia, βshe was good to her children.β Lauren was married to the late James Johnson, Sr. on June 6, 1988.
Lauren was preceded in death by her parents, Moses Terrell and Nellie Briley Terrell; her brother, Patrick Terrell; and husband, James Johnson, Sr.
Lauren never met a stranger and would ask you anything she wanted to know. Lauren had a jovial personality and enjoyed fine foods, family gatherings, and bingo. Lauren would give you the shirt off her back to help others before herself.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, James Johnson, Jr. and daughter, Zardia Johnson of the home; her niece, Patricia Fowler of Washington, DC; her aunt who raised her, Bernice Briley of High Point, NC; special family and friends, Teresa Reddick, Martha Parker, Rosa Lovely, Linda Fuller, Vanessa Pemberton, Elder Claudia Johnson, and Phillip Robinson.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
