Obituary For General "Boot" Ingram

General Bob Ingram Jr., affectionately known as "Boot," passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, in North Carolina at the age of 97. He was born on September 2, 1927, in Anson County, NC, to the late General Bob Ingram Sr. and Lizzie Lee Stanback Ingram.

After graduating high school, Boot attended North Carolina A&T State University. He then served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Following his military service, Boot moved to Stamford, CT, where he built a successful career working for the City of Stamford's Sanitation Department and The Stamford Advocate. In 2018, Boot relocated to High Point, North Carolina to be closer to loved ones. He spent his golden years surrounded by the people he loved most.

Boot was a pillar of his community, dedicating over 60 years of service to the Union Baptist Church (UBC). He served as a member of the Trustee Board and played a crucial role in securing UBC's move from Adams Avenue to Newfield Avenue. His devotion to the church was further exemplified by his lifelong membership in The Sanctuary Choir, dating back to The Chancellor Choir.

A man of faith and fraternity, Boot held the Masonic order close to his heart. He was known for his impeccable taste in clothing and carried himself as a true gentleman, a trait shared by the men in his family. His love for his nine nieces and nephews was so profound that his license plate proudly read "Get-9".

Boot was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Mildred Cowans and Eva Jean Murray.

He is survived by: - his brother: Bobby Ingram of High Point, NC; nephews: Avery Cowans of Greensboro, NC, Darryl Ingram of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Mark Cowans of High Point, NC - nieces: Tracey Ingram-Thompson of Bridgeport, CT, Lavoris Ingram Butler of Mt. Rainier, MD Kimberley Cowans Ollison of High Point, NC, and Tonia Cowans of High Point, NC; - great-nieces: Janel Ingram Sharpe of High Point, NC, Brittany Cowans of NJ;
great-nephews: Cordarius Cowans of Chicago, IL, Bradley Cowans of Greensboro, NC, Ryan White of High Point, NC, Denzel Hood of High Point, NC, Justin Ingram of Maryland, and Raheem Murray, Jr. of CT; two great-great nephews and four great-great nieces.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
