A Celebration of Life was held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at New Destiny Fellowship, Wilmington, Delaware for Rose Ann Perkins, daughter of the late John Lee and Melian Pekins, was born April 6, 1938 in Leakesville/Eden, NC. She was one of fourteen children. She departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Rose received her education in the public schools of Eden, NC and graduated from Douglas High School. After receiving her education, she was employed with St Francis Hospital from January 26, 1970 and retired April 24, 2003, retiring after 33 years. She loved the Lord and was often heard singing and humming various gospel songs. She lived many years on Sherman Street and would often sit out on her front steps and talk and pray for her neighbors and the young people on her block. Rose was often known for saying "He's coming back soon, the Lord's coming back, you need to get your life right with the Lord. She was highly respected and the young people knew not to start any trouble while Rosie was sitting out on the block. She often invited her neighbors to attend church with her. Rose faithfully served and worshipped at Greater Bethel/New Destiny Fellowship for over 42 years. She served on many different ministries at the church; Greeter, Mother Board, Head of the Baptismal Committee for over 15 years and prayer group leader. Rose loved getting together with family and friends, especially spending time with her siblings, telling stories about growing up in Eden, NC. She would tell stories about hosting cards games and how her sister Hazel and her would win the pot.Rosie was the shortest sibling, but she never backed down from a fight, defending family or herself. Almost always you would see Rose and Marlene, they were two peas in a pod, you did not see one without the other. They would often attend church together, work in ministry together, took trips to visit family, visit the sick and shut-in and attend early morning prayer. They were always together. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late John Lee and Melian Perkins, one grandchild, Leamond Perkins and sisters, Evangelist Hazel Manlove, Nannie (Teenie) Broadnax and Deaconesss Nellie Taylor.
