Obituary For Paul Kyreem Stevens

Paul Stevens, 46, of Eden NC died June 28, 2021. A public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Thursday July 1, 2021 at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private service will be held on a later date.

Always making a way to take care of family and friends, Paul Kyreem Stevens, 46, of Eden, NC. After spending many breaks from school and a few summers in Eden, Paul became a resident of Eden at ten years old. Paul, a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1992; began a life of helping others through his career in the healthcare industry. Paul wanted to ensure that people have equitable medical coverage. Paul began a life of learning at Rockingham Community College in the Medical Coding program. Shortly after finishing the coding program he went on to earn many certifications in the field of health insurance and health equity. Paul worked as a Consumer Advocate with major insurance carriers, ultimately working as a Grievance and Appeals Analyst at Health Team Advantage. Paul worked until his health made it impossible, late February 2021. If you knew him well or barely at all, he always left you thinking. Whether it was about how absolutely beautiful his personality was, once you made it past the socially awkward moments, how ridiculously funny he was the majority of the time, or just down right inappropriate he could be when it related to his family and friends, he left his mark. Paul will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Paul’s stubborn, yet loving and caring personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will continue to stay with us all through memories, and the laughs he forced us all to endure whether we were in the mood for it or not.

Preceded in death by his grandmother, the family matriarch Mildred Lewis, his mother, Rita Lewis, and beloved Aunt, Marie Lewis.

Survived by his wife, Sharon McCullough Stevens, his children: Siniyah Stevens, Isaiah Stevens, Kanyon Stevens. Winter Stevens and Elias Stevens, grandchildren; Malachi Stevens and Meleia Stevens. Children by love: Kyreem Warner, Ashley, Guy, and Monique Wall, Quentin Shepherd, Paige Andrews (Robert) Azyant Fulp, Shadliek and Shareeka McCullough, Alexus Hampton, Taiyanna Wright (Justin), Isaiah Eubanks, mother-in-law; Mae McCullough and a host of grandchildren by love. “Sisters and Brothers,” Angel Thurston McCann (Ramel), Tracy Horton, Donnell Riley, Jayson Martin, Nate Reynolds, Cameron Hanger, Clifford Perry, Roman Hill and Geraldo Upshur. Sister-in-law, Shelia Broadnax (Derrick). Those left to mourn include his aunts and uncle, Jacqueline, Sylvia, and Robert Lewis. Many close friends and family.

As Christians we should live with eternity in our sights. It will be a home-coming, a celestial celebration, if you will, where we will stand before His throne in hopes of hearing our Savior say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Come into your eternal rest.” (Matthew 25:23, 34) For we who depart this world knowing our eternity is secure through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is no weeping or sorrow. Still, as we attend the funeral of a believer, though it may be a celebration of a life well-lived, we will mourn and miss our loved one until we are once again reunited with them in heaven. Kyreem said, “...I am ready.”
