Mary L. Smith- Robinson, 82, of Eden, NC died October 18,2021. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC . The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Mary “Lou” Woolfolk Robinson began her life on May 8, 1939, she completed her course on October 18, 2021, when she transitioned peacefully from this life at Hospice of Rockingham in Reidsville, NC. A native of McDowell County, Mary was born Gary, West Virginia. She attended Gary District High School where she graduated in 1957 and later attended Bluefield State College, Bluefield, West Virginia.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rock Hill Baptist in Gary, West Virginia, where she was an active member until she moved her membership to First Baptist, Nutley, New Jersey under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence Roberts. She loved utilizing her gift of song through lifting her voice while singing with the Angelic Choir. While residing in Newark, NJ, she was employed for 30 years of service with the City of Newark as an Executive Secretary and later retired as a Project Manager. From her 30 years of service with the City of Newark, Mayor Sharpe James presented he with a key to the city with great joy and appreciation.
Later in life she married Earnest Robinson and moved to Fairfax, South Carolina. While being a resident in Fairfax, SC she became an active member at Revelation Ministries Church, Allendale County in Fairfax, SC under the leadership of Bishop Virgin Johnson, Jr. She loved cooking, helping seniors and others in ministry. Her greatest joy was spending time with her church family and friends.
Lou leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted son; Rodney Swanson (Monica) of Eden, NC, two sisters; Jackie Cain (Odell), Brenda Ware both of Eden, NC, brother; Larry Woolfolk (Frances) of Fayetteville, NC, grandson; Jarrod Swanson of Eden, NC, god-daughter, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
