To the family of Mary E. Morehead: You have my deepest sympathy at the passing of your beloved family member. Mary was a member of our church's Beginner Sunday School Class, and she was bright and eager to participate. I amaware that over the years she worked together with my late brother, Bernard Jones Hairston, to organize the records for the Hairston Family Reunion. I am certain that she freely used her gifts and talents to help many. I pray that you take solace in your loving recollections of her long and cherished life. Yours In Christ's Love, Dr. Iris Hairston Cooley
Mary was a former classmate of my brother Larry during their educational years at London High School. I had the honor of being in Mary's bookkeeping class at London High School in the 1960's, and my daughter was blessed to have her as her keyboarding teacher at South Stokes High School in the 1990's. Many years later, I would have the honor of serving with Mary on the planning committee for the London High School Alumni Association School Reunion. She served as the secretary and I, the treasurer. After becoming a member of the Stokes County Retired School Personnel, I sat and conversed with her on many occasions until she had to begin rendering care for her sister Karen and could no longer attend the meetings. The last time I spoke with Mary by telephone, we discussed her and Karen's looking forward to going back home to Pine Hall in time for Christmas. We were so excited! I am so deeply saddened I did not get to talk with her again before her departure to her heavenly home. Mary was one of those rare people who one gets to meet in his/her life if he/she is blessed to do. I found her to be beautiful, highly intelligent, caring, willing to help others, patient, understanding, professional, humble, and kind. I am so grateful that she became a part of my life. She will be sorely missed, remembered, and loved. May God continue to bless all of her family through such a difficult, heartsick loss.
To Mary's family, I extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers. Mary and I were classmates and, I always looked forward to our talks and Christmas card exchanges. May God you in your time of loss and in the days ahead.
I enjoyed spending time with Mary in the last few months. She had a wealth of knowledge and stories that I enjoyed hearing about when spending time with her. She seemed to be loved by all and loved all people. We talked about heaven every now and then. Congratulations Mary! You made it HOME. Thank you Jamie and Robbie for letting Arosa be a part of your family.

Miss Morehead was my homeroom teacher almost 50 years ago, and I still have such fond memories of her. She was so kind and supportive, and as a high school freshman, I needed that support. I thought of her a few days ago, and remembered her kindness to me. She made a difference in the lives of so many young people in her years as a teacher. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
