Marjorie McCollum Dow was 85 years old and from Washington, DC, she passed on January 22, 2024. She was born September 25, 1938 in North Carolian to the late Nellie Broadnax McCollum and Jessie Albert McCollum.
She was baptized at Little Bethlehem Christian Church, Eden, NC at an early age. Marjorie loved family and especially going to family reunions, such as Broadnax and McCollum reunions.
Marjorie went to Douglass High School and graduated in 1956. She moved to Washington, DC and lived with her brother, Charles McCollum and helped her cousin, Sarah Hill with her children.
Marjorie later met William Dow, whom she married and they had a son, Ronald Dow. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her son started school. She got a job at Medstar Washington Hospital where she was a supervisor. She worked for 35 years until her health declined and later became disabled. With her health declining, she moved to Bridge Point Rehabilitation Hospital, where she resided for two years.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers; Julius McCollum, Sr. and Charles McCollum.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son Ronald Dow of Washington, DC and sister; Jerline McCollum Lewis of Eden, NC, along with her dear cousin, Sarah Hill of Hyattsville, MD. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
As a young lady during the 1970's and 1980's my Aunt Margorie always encouraged me to be me. No matter what I was going through, she never discouraged me. She always spoke to me with a soft-spoken voice. Even though I had not seen her over the years that God has been guiding my heart goes out to her son my cousin Ronnie. Psalms 73:26 "My flesh and my heart faileth;"But" God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
