Obituary For Margaret Elaine Roberts

Margaret Elaine Roberts, 85, a native of Rockingham County, lived in Eden, NC passed on Tuesday December 3, 2024. Public viewing will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, 511 Henry St., Eden, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Robinson Memorial United Holy Church 521 Turner St., Eden, NC with funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. The interment will follow in Eden Gardens Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Margaret Elaine Roberts, 85, a resident of Rockingham County, she departed this life on December 3, 2024, Tuesday morning at the Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC.

Margaret was born on May 9, 1937, to John Hopper and Sophonia Hopper in Eden, NC. She lived a vibrant life. She had an entrepreneurial spirit, hosting Home Interior Design, Tupperware and Mary Kay parties. Also rising early in the morning she would prepare meals for he coworkers at Stoneville Furniture Factory. She worked many years in the textile industry: Stoneville Furniture Factory and Eden Yarn.

She was an active member of Gospel Light United Holiness Church for many years ensuring her children were raised according to the word of God. There she served on the Usher Broad and Hospitality committee. She later joined Robinson Memorial United Holiness Church where she served in the Senior Choir and Headed the Hospitality Ministry.

Ms. Margaret will be sorely missed; known for her cakes and pies. She loved to bake and always willing to brighten your day with a slice of her pineapple, coconut, chocolate or pound cake. And if you were really good, you might get a red velvet or German chocolate cake. We will truly miss her, not only for her culinary skills, but mostly for her unconditioned love. The joy she received knowing she could help somebody, was who she was. She loved people. She was a God fearing woman, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and widow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel P. Roberts of 50 years. And two siblings, John T. Hopper and Mary Galloway.

Margaret light and legacy will live throughout eternity is us…her family which consists of seven children: Johnny ray Hopper (Carol), Phillip Hopper (Cynthia), Samuel (Sammy) Roberts, Overseer, Bobby Roberts (Prophet Roberts), Annette Millner (Wayne), Tracy Pickard (Curtis, Jr.), Hugh O'Brien Roberts (Krisi). Sisters; Malinda Lowe and Mary Lowe. twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
