James Edward Lash, Sr. 73 of Walnut Cove, passed Sunday, September 10, 2023. Public viewing will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC . The Family will receive friends Friday, September 15, 2023, from 12:00 Noon – 12:30 p.m. at Baileytown Christian Church, Walnut Cove, NC. with service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bailey Family Cemetery.
Deacon James Edward Lash, Sr. took his rest on Sunday, September 10, 2023. James was the son of the late Deacon Harvey Lee Bailey and Deaconess Sallie Lash Bailey, born April 21, 1950.
He attended the Stokes County Schools, graduating from London High School. He went on to Winston Salem State University, served in the military and later graduated from Culinary School. He was employed by RJ Reynolds, Duke Energy, Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation and was retired. His culinary skills were enjoyed by his family for special occasions, holidays and family gatherings. He generously prepared cakes and pies for many church and community events. Everyone will definitely miss his skills and deliciousness from the kitchen.
He was also preceded in death by five siblings; Faith Bailey, Kirkland, Harriet Lash Rhodes, Allison Bailey Johnson, Armstead Keith Bailey and Terry Lee Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Edward Lash, Jr., exactly one year ago on September 10, 2022.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one brother, Lloyd Bailey of Madison, NC, two sisters; Dona Maria Bailey of Walnut Cove, NC and Laura Caldwell (Joe) of Kernersville, NC. Four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, his devoted friends; Curtis Smith, John Simmons, Hayward Anderson along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire New Beginning Christian Church family.
