Glen Thomas Ziglar (Eggy), son of the late Joe Ziglar and Connie Martin Ziglar, was born September 6, 1952. Following a period of illness, he departed this life on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his residence in Danville, VA.
He attended school in Western Rockingham County, which is in the Madison/Mayodan area. As a native resident of Rockingham County for most of his life, Glen enjoyed fishing and he could clean a car so well, that it looked like it came off the show room floor. He enjoyed racing cars and listening to gospel music. He also loved to gather with family and friends at family reunions and he delighted in bringing some of his favorite dishes, which were cabbage, pinto beans, jowl meat and ribs. Glen spoke with a loud voice, but he had a kind, gentle heart.
Glen was married to Jane Valentine and although the relationship was not permanent, they did have two sons together and they remained friends afterwards. His son Jamal has a son who Glen absolutely adored, and he affectionately called him, “Little Eggy.”
Glen received Christ and was baptized in Jesus’ name in 1990 and became a member at Apostolic Faith Holiness Church in Ringgold, VA., under the leadership of the late Suffragan Bishop Willie A. Watkins. Later, he attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Danville, VA., under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop Troy L. Nevells. Glen was employed as a truck driver with Cargo Transporters until his health declined.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers: James E. Ziglar, Melvin E. Ziglar, Travis F. Ziglar, Keith L. Ziglar and Jewel J. Ziglar. Also preceding him in death was one son, Juan Anderson.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his two sons: Jamal Ziglar of the home and Patrick Ziglar of Eden, NC. One grandson; Jayceon Sevyn Ziglar. Stepmother; Catherine Ziglar of Stoneville, NC. Two brothers; Richard T. Ziglar (Ann), of McLeansville, NC and William R. Ziglar of Eden, NC. Four aunts; Fanny Mitchell, Mary Perkins, Lois Martin and Ann Stockton (Percy). Glen also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
