Obituary For Ethel Mae Simmons Bennett

Ethel Mae Simmons Bennett, 70 of Walnut Cove, NC passed Monday, November 25, 2024. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home 402 Short Avenue, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 7, 2024 in the Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC.

Missionary Ethel Mae Simmons Bennett departed this journey of life on November 25, 2024 at Walnut Cove Health Care, Walnut Cove, NC. She was born to the late Harrison (Blackie) and Carolyne Simmons on January 26, 1954.

Missionary Ethel Mae Simmons the Stokes County Public School System. After school she met and married the late Herman Adams in 1973, and from this union three children were born. Missionary Ethel Mae had several jobs throughout her life, the latter was Hardees of Walnut Cove which she loved and was one of the 1st employees and was quick to remain people. She was a dedicated worker on each job until her health started to decline.

In 2006 Missionary Ethel Mae married Deacon Paul Bennett and they were married until his death October, 2015. During this union they stated attending Grace Temple Holiness Church, which was pastored by her brother, Bishop Bobby Simmons. She joined the Senior Choir, later served on the Missionary Board and was a faithful, active member before transitioning to Walnut Cove Health Care due to declining health.

She was also preceded in death by five siblings: Ann Moore, James Simmons, Levoir (Sue) Hairston, Thomas (Tom) Simmons and Trinia Simmons.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, Sherman (Clenetter) of Greensboro, NC and Bobby Adams of Walnut Cove, NC and one daughter, Carolyn Graves of Eden, NC, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A special sister, Mary Pauline Simmons of Mayodan, NC, brothers, Harrison Simmons of Pine Hall, NC, Bishop Bobby Simmons (First Lady-Donna) and William Simmons both of Walnut Cove, NC. Seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. A special thanks to Aunt Shelia, Uncle Bobby and Auntie Deannie Lowe, your continuous kindness was appreciated. With many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
