Douglas Patterson, 84, of Madison, N.C. passed Friday, December 9, 2022. Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends, from 12:30 p.m. -1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at New Light Refuge Temple {2441 Bethany Rd. Madison, NC} with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Collins Cemetery, Madison, NC.
Deacon Douglas Patterson, beloved husband, father, and Papa entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC. He was born on December 31, 1937, to the late John and Ida Hairston Patterson in Leaksville, NC. Douglas was educated in the Rockingham County Public Schools. He worked for 30 plus years at Washington Mills and later went on to work as an assistant supervisor of quality control at Liberty Screen Print until his retirement. Douglas was a true outdoorsman, loving to hunt, farm, fish, and tend to his garden. Douglas also had a deep and abiding love for his church and church family. He served the ministry faithfully as a Deacon and a member of the Male Chorus at New Light Refuge Temple Church.
Douglas was married for 65 years to his teenage sweetheart, Sarah Ann Cummings Patterson and to their blessed union six children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sarah Ann of the home, son, Walter Patterson (Vennie) of Eden, NC and daughters: Phyllis Patterson of Eden, NC, Sherry Patterson of Greensboro, NC, Tracy Lowe (Elder Carl) of Stokesdale, NC, Pamela Cook (John) of Madison, NC, Amy Lee (Tony) of Reidsville, NC, a host of ten beloved grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
