Derita Shante Simmons, 37 of Kernersville, NC passed Friday, June 23, 2023. Public viewing will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Baileytown Christian Church, 1163 Baileytown Church Road, Walnut Cove, NC, with service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Dry Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Derita Simmons transitioned from this earth on Friday, June 23, 2023 to her eternal resting place with the Lord.
Derita was born on August 14, 1985 to her loving parents, Mary and John Simmons in Forsyth County, NC. She was the second of two daughters, leaving behind her older sister, Deanita Scales. She was raised in love with her parents, sister and family there to support and care for her. Derita was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, where she attended with her mother.
Derita graduated from Carver High School in 2003. She attended Forsyth Technical Community College. She brought her love of communicating and problem solving to her most recent job, as a manager of Wendy's. Since birth, Derita had an outgoing and welcoming spirit, which was shown thought her infectious laugh. She was a true lover of music, taking each moment to dance and sing, bringing joy to those around her. Derita loved children and enjoyed pouring into their lives, being there to lend a helping hand. She was a true lover of family and will be missed by all those she interacted with in her life.
Those who are rejoicing with her in heaven: Sarah and Wilbert Scales (maternal grandparents), Robert Simmons (paternal grandfather) and maternal uncles, James Troy, Daniel Lee and Willie.
Those who will see her again: Mary S. Simmons (mother) of Kernersville, NC, John Simmons (father) of Belews Creek, Deanita Scales (sister) of Winston Salem, NC; 1 nephew, Jayden Scales; Margaret Simmons (paternal grandmother); 5 aunts: Ella Graves, Maxine Lash, Sarah Lowe, Sharon Hairston, Shirley Jones (Dennis); 2 uncles: Nathanel Scales (Josephine) & Walter Scales; 1 goddaughter; Ashana Young; fiance’ Ron Brown and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
