Obituary For Demetrius Mario Moore

Demetrius Mario Moore, 37, of Walnut Cove, NC passed Sunday, February 19, 2023. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Withers Chapel Church, Belews Creek, NC from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. with the "Homegoing Celebration" beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Prince Demetrius Moore, 37, of Walnut Cove, NC was blessed upon his parents, Joseph & Mildred Moore, on February 12, 1986. He was called and given his wings on February 19, 2023 at 4 p.m. surounded by family at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Demetrius affectionately known as "Meechie or Bodah" graduated from Parkland High School. But he went on finding his calling to be a chef at Providence Culinary School. He then went to work doing what he loved best cooking and helping others, especially seniors at Jacobs Creek Nursing Facility. He was an activst standing for equality and fairness as a member of the Stokes County NAACP Chapter 5455. To know Demetrius was to know a big hearted gentle teddy bear, always willing to help and show love with his food and laughter. The light he shared would always brighten the darkest of days. His love of reggae music, family and cooking made his present infectious and serine and his Gamer mode was a force to be reckoned with, that earned him the name Honey bear. But his passion to heal people with food gave him the idea during the pandemic to create the Chubby Culinary Corner on Facebook for friends & family to share cooking tips and humor to get them through the week. His courage and dedication to show love will truly be missed.

In 2015 he stood in his truth and through courage and approval from his parents he found love with his partner William "Jimmy" Gladney who showed his devotion & love for him till his transition. In addition to his parents, Mildred & Joe, he was proceeded in death by his grandparents; Emma Lee & Charlie Moore & Lucille H. Boston & Earl Washington, his beloved Aunt Peggy Timberlake and cousin, Justin Brimmer and Uncle Reginald Boston. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his partner; William Gladney of Walnut Cove, NC, sibling; Melissa Worthen Thacker of Atlanta, GA, Melodie Williamson of Ohio and Christopher Ho-Shing of New York. A beloved supportive step-dad, Franz Dwyer, his beloved aunties; Reverend Linda Moore of Walnut Cove NC, Rosie Martin of Kernersville, NC, Georgette Boston & Sheila Oniel of Winston Salem, Sharon Cates of Flint, Michigan empowering Uncles Raymond Boston and Carl Tatum, William Bunche Hairston, His loving nieces, Mon'Sherrye, Le'lundon, Meai'Haunist & Mercedes and his beloved, nephew, Prince Atorian, his supportive and loving cousin, Diane, Kin, Tammy, Chris, John, Charles, Whitney, Barry and Josephine. A prethera of great nieces and nephews and loving great cousin. Best friends; Corey, Mena, Rhonda, Tyson & Timmy and Kim.
