We gathered to celebrate the life of an amazing woman, Barbara (Booe) Frazier. She was born to Joe Henry and Lillie Hairston on December 6, 1933. She attended Walnut Cove Colored School and spent most of her life in Stokes County, with the exception of the time she spent with her sister Ada (Cinderella) Young in Las Vagas. Booe retired from Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital where she worked many years. After retiring she enjoyed activities at the Walnut Cove Senior Citizen Center and loving on her family. She was a devoted member of her family church, New London Progressive Primitive Baptist Church, which she joined at a very young age.
Barbara (Booe) was one of ten siblings, she was the last of her siblings to enter the gates of heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Henry and Lillie Hairston, one loving amazing son, Johnny Ray Hairston. Her sisters, Isadora Parham, Willie Web, Virginia Gray, Ada (Cin) Young, Susan (Van) Mitchell, Mary Ann Reynolds, three brothers, Christmas Henry Hairston and Walter Williams Hairston, Frank (Buss) Welch and one loving nephew, that was considered a brother to her Walter “June” Gray, Jr. Together they formed an unbreakable bond that still remains today. Booe leaves behind to mourn one loving niece, Vanessa Manns and great niece, MeOshi Manns that helped take care of her in her last days.
Even though she had only one biological son, she loved and guided her nieces and nephews like they were her own. Barbara was a God fearing woman and stayed devoted to her family to her last breath. She was well known throughout Walnut cove for her generous, kind spirit and her beautiful smile. He presence brought joy to everyone around her. Booe had a way of making everyone feel special. Her spirit will forever remain in her family's heart. She was more precious than rubies and she will be greatly missed by her family.
